SAVA event Rules and Regulations – 2018
Registration- Complete registrations include: Team Registration, Payment and full Roster. If any of these requirements are not met, teams may be removed and replaced by a Registered, Paid and fully rostered team. All payments are due within 48 hours of registering.
Time Outs: 1 - 30 second timeout per game (set).
Injury- Injury timeouts are a maximum of 5 minutes with a 1 point/per minute forfeit thereafter.
Injury substitutions - Teams may find a substitute for injured players during pool play only, provided the substitution is of the same gender. Only players who have participated in at least 1 full pool play game (set) may participate in the playoffs.
No substitutions in 2’s Events.
SAVA events proceed regardless of weather. Teams are expected to be at the event at the scheduled check-in time.
In the event of lightning during a Juniors tournament, play will be suspended for 12 minutes. If there are no other lightning events during the suspension time, play will resume. While on a lightning suspension, if there is another lightning event, the 12 minute suspension time will start over.
Withdrawal/Cancellation Policy - Teams who withdraw or cancel from an event may or may not receive a full refund. See chart below.
Full Refund - Withdrawal BEFORE registration closes at 10 P.M. Thursday before the tournament
No Refund - Withdrawal AFTER registration closes at 10 P.M. Thursday before the tournament
Out of rotation for serving - If either team is out of serving rotation, the offending team will rotate back to the fault (maximum of 2 points), lose the serve and opposing team be awarded a point and the serve.
Late Arrivals- Teams will forfeit 1 point/per minute from match start time or court availability.
Unsportsmanlike like conduct- Any SAVA representative has the right to remove any participant(s) from the event who demonstrates verbal or physical aggression/abuse to any and/or all opponents, participants, SAVA representatives, or any of the staff of the hosting venue. Teams that are ejected from a SAVA event will not be refunded in full or in-part of any entry fees paid.
SAVA events are "Call your own". SAVA Juniors events do have reffing teams that keep score and help with ball handling, in/out calls. Any discrepancies regarding plays, points or ball handling will result in a replay. If a SAVA representative is asked for a ruling or witnesses the play in question, the representative's decision is final.
Pool Play Match Formats: Pool seeding is determined by the SAVA Point System
3 Team Pools: 1 Match = 3 games to 21 cap at 21
4 Team Pools: 1 Match = 2 games to 21 cap at 23 (*2 games to 24 cap at 24)
5 Team Pools: 1 Match = 2 games to 21 cap at 23 (*2 games to 18 cap at 18)
6 Team Pools: 1 Match = 1 Game to 21 cap at 23
7 Team Pools: 1 Match = 1 Game to 21 cap at 23
SAVA representatives may alter game/set numbers to account for weather or time constraints
Playoff Match Formats: Playoff seeding is determined by results of pool play: Win/Loss record, Head to Head, point differential and in the event of a total tie, 1 game to 15 win by 2. *
*In the event of a 5 team pool & 4 team pool competing, overall points earned will determine tournament bracket seeding. Upon a tie of earned points, points against will determine higher seed. Win/loss record, Head to Head or point differential will not be used.
All playoff matches are 2 games to 21 win by 2, 3rd game (if forced) to 15 win by 2. This includes play-in matches.
4, 5, 6 & 7 Team Playoff: Seeding into 1-single elimination tournament bracket.
8 Team Playoff: Cross-pool seeding into 1-single elimination tournament bracket (ex. 1A vs 4B, 1B vs 4A etc…)
9 Team Playoff: Cross-pool seeding. 8th and 9th overall place compete in a play-in match. Winner moves on to 1-single elimination tournament bracket.
10 Team Playoff: Cross-pool seeding from 2, 5-team pools into 1-single elimination tournament bracket (ex. 2B vs 3A, 2A vs 3B etc…) with 2 play-in matches. 5A v 4B : 5B v 4A. Winners move on.
11 Team Playoff: Top overall 6 teams move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The 5 remaining teams move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket.
12 Team Playoff: Top 2 teams from each 4-team pool move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The bottom 2 teams from each 4-team pool move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket.
13 Team Playoff: Top overall 7 teams move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The 6 remaining teams move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket.
14 & 15 Team Playoff: Top overall 8 teams move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The 6/7 remaining teams move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket.
16 Team Playoff: Top 2 teams from each 4-team pool move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The bottom 2 teams from each 4-team pool move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket.
17 Team Playoff: Top overall 8 teams move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The 9 remaining teams move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket.
18 Team Playoff: Top overall 6 teams move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The next 6 move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket. The remaining 6 teams move on to the Bronze single elimination tournament bracket.
19 Team Playoff: Top overall 8 teams move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The next 7 move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket. The remaining 4 teams move on to the Bronze single elimination tournament bracket.
20 Team Playoff: Top overall 8 teams move on to the Gold single elimination tournament bracket. The next 6 move on to the Silver single elimination tournament bracket. The remaining 6 teams move on to the Bronze single elimination tournament bracket.

Consumption or bringing alcohol into any SAVA event will result in immediate disqualification and forfeit for the rest of the Event, with no refund.
Participation in any SAVA event grants SAVA and it's representatives permission to use all individuals' and/or team participants' photographic/video/digital image and name for use in any and all of its promotional and marketing purposes.
