-Info-
This is our 7th season of SAVA Junior's. We hold these events at Cedarvale Lanes/Fitz's in Eagan, Boondox in Elk River, and McPete's in Big Lake. These locations have full service restaurants so please, NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES. Water is fine. Coolers are subject to inspection.
Age divisions are determined upon registered teams. We strive to keep the ages as close as possible.
Court Dimension: The playable area for 2's sand volleyball is 26.25' X 52.5'. For comparison, an indoor court is 29.6' X 59'.
Sand Rules:
-Any part of the ball that hits the line is considered "IN" regardless of the line's home position. The line will move during game play. It is the player's responsibility to adjust boundary lines as needed.
-Players may not contact any part of the net.
-One serve attempt is allowed for ages 14 and older. 12U may have a 2nd attempt. Upon the toss of the 1st serve attempt, the ball must not be contacted and allowed to fall to the ground. The 2nd serve attempt will then be allowed.
-Blocks count as a hit. A player may play their own ball after a block touch. However, this will be considered 2 of the team's 3 contacts.
-Open-handed setting of serves is not allowed. If received over-head, hands/fists must be joined together.
-Open-handed tips are not allowed. Balls can only be "dinked" off of a closed hand or knuckles.
-Non-driven balls(ie. free balls, roll shots, or dinks) cannot be played with an open-handed set. Step back and under-hand pass(bump) or receive with 2 joined hands/fists.
-Hand sets over the net are not allowed. The exception is when the wind blows the ball over. Both playing teams and officiating team must agree on this. Hand setting is called tighter in Beach Volleyball. Balls may not rotate more than 2 full rotations. However, balls are allowed to be held a bit longer to help accomplish this. Most Girls' & Women's Beach Volleyball players bump set.
Game Format:
-Sets are to be played to 21. 23 point cap on pool play sets.
-Teams are to switch sides on every multiple of 7 points.(ex. 5-2, 6-1, 14-7).
-Playoffs are single elimination. Games are the best 2 of 3 sets to 21. No cap, win by 2. Third set, if necessary, will be to 15, switch on multiples of 5.
Officiating: Teams will have reffing assignments. 1 scoreboard attendant and 1 score sheet recorder.
